English Language Challenges

When I started the English course the second semester, many students from previous years told me that I had changed a lot because of the mesh change, that the previous one was a much more technical English.
With the use of blogs I feel it is a good tool for students to have a recurring writing in English, which is rarely done and although the student has basic knowledge or minimal English, the practice of this is the most difficult to carry.
Personally, I would say that my English is very weak in the field of writing, I feel that if I go to a country I can speak and locate myself well with the language, but at the time of writing I often keep thinking because I know how the word is translated and as it is pronounced, but often not as it is written.
One solution that I think I could use would be that when I realize that I do not know how to write a word immediately I look for it and write it in a note and then write it several times during the day. I could use a number of times to repeat the word until the end of the day and each time I look less at the memory aid.
Outside of the classes I could say that what I practice the most is the reading of scientific papers. This semester, like the previous one, I had to do a summary of several papers that are in English and last semester I had to deliver it in English. I felt that it was the moment where my kinetic vocabulary improved greatly.
Another place where I could say I practice English is in my house, I usually try to talk to my daughter a bit in English, certain basic things of the house, colors, phrases, among other things. I could say that I practice everyday English.

Changes to my study programme

Personally I love my career, I feel that the wide field of work that has makes her have such an extensive curriculum. However, if they asked me what I would change, it would be a couple of branches but in the order that they are taught. For example, in the first semester of classes we have a branch that teaches us to use a construction program, then in the fourth semester we give a bouquet where we need to make a plan with that program. It happened to me that a lot of time had passed and I did not remember what I had learned, which added a degree of difficulty to my work.
Recently this semester I have worked in the race laboratories and I was very surprised that if you want to do some research on a food or some project is the teacher in charge who should look for funds in the government to buy the machines that are required or well all the utensils to handle. In this sense I would change the support given by the university for these projects that ultimately improve the institution and the food will always have work in the future.
In my opinion how it happens in any student institution, there are good teachers and other bad ones. I had to go through branches where the teacher shows too much knowledge of the content, however his pedagogical side is bad and fails to pass on his knowledge to the students. On the other hand I have gone through branches where the teachers are very pedagogical and achieve that the greater percentage of the students understand them immediately and if they have to repeat it they do it with a huge disposition so you feel you can ask again when you do not understand

In my opinion

What is your opinion about violence on television?

I could say that the closest case I can observe every day is that of my daughter. Due to the little control that there is by the knowledge of the technology that the children have, I have observed that certain programs teach the children stories about how to behave, how to be selfish, among other things.

What is your opinion about buying instead of adopting pets?

In my opinion I do not think it's bad to buy a pet. I have a very close friend who has adopted dogs twice and as she did not know where they came from they died for strange reasons and that caused her great sorrow. The third dog was bought and they knew their breeds, vaccines and all their medical history.

What is your opinion about the legalization of marijuana and other drugs?

I do not think it's a good thing. More than anything I compare it with the cigar. Although marijuana does not affect your brain when the whole lobe is formed, which normally happens at 20 years, but if it is consumed before if it has side effects. If it becomes legal, I think, it becomes more accessible for minors, as is the cigar.

What is your opinion about immigration?

I do not think it's good that it's so easy for them to enter Chile. Although it seems very good that they look for options when there are not any in their country, when they arrive they have priority over the Chileans, and I do not find that good. A very clear example are the junji gardens. My niece lives in a commune where there are many foreigners and she does not have a garden because all the quotas are used by foreigners. Perhaps a solution would be to set aside quotas for Chileans and others for foreigners.

From cartoons, animes to TV series

The best memories I have of any television series are with my sister when I was little. I remember clearly when it was Saturday morning and the first thing we did when we woke up was to use my parents' bed to watch "Totally Spies" during the morning on the national channels.
My sister and I were different for one year and three months, so our relationship as a child was very close. We also have a cousin a year older than my sister so we liked to see the super powerful girls. My sister was "Bonbon", my cousin "Acorn" and I "Bubble".
I must say that anime is not one of my favorite cartoons, I do not like it now when I was big or when I was little.
Regarding the importance of cartoons in my childhood I do not think they have marked my life patterns so much, however they increased my creativity and with my sister we could spend hours playing with a box that had only small figures with which we could invent stories and let the imagination fly.
The best and the clearest memory I have with my family and TV series are those of a Friday night when with my three brothers and my parents we lay down in their bed to watch the competition programs with a rich tray like potatoes fries, sweets, juices, kids and many other things.

Post graduate studies

To be honest I do not know a lot about the master’s or PhD that the university gave.

Know reading I think that interesting a lot do a master’s in food science or Food with mention of food management, quality and safety. Between this two I prefer the second, because I feel that  my attention tend to more of the area of business, the area where you can work supervision or control the safety of the food will be export.

Between a master’s and a PhD I prefer the first because are lees time, primarily because I don’t know how will be my family life in two years. For other side, the masters can do when you are in mayor, after our licenciature, what for me is so tempting because you can finish with a masters and with your professional degree, but if I see for the said of the quality of my study qhen I finish I prefer end my professional degree and after do a masters because I will feel more prepared for do the master if I made the career bouquets because there I will know better which area love more and specially in one of them.

About continued study after the professional degree is something that scare me a little beet but I can see a good experience in my brother who finish the last year his MBE. He finishes his professional degree, after work for ten years approximately and then stars the MBE and get out with the best calcification of his class. Is a pride for me and an example, and that make my think that I don’t need to do something immediately when finish my professional degree.

My new job

The career that what I choose, have so many types of areas for work, like laboratory, office, ground work, border supervision and more.

One of the benefits of the engineering career in food is not so well known is that there are few workers who have the title, since there are many technicians in food, biotechnology or industrial techniques that only cover a part of what engineering involves food, this is one of the many reasons why I like my career, since they train you in all areas and there is no limitation to arise in what your tastes prefer.

For my part I prefer the office, I like to be organized, to have a fixed routine, to know hours of arrival and departure. Considering also that I have a small daughter and my husband's job includes many trips, I discard the supervision area for companies from the South or abroad that involve several days' trips. I like to travel and that area of supervision, so I do not rule it out completely for years to come.

I know I'm in the early years of my career, so I have not met 10% of what it means to work as an engineer in food, however, focusing on my personality and what I said before I think that a specialty in business or micro companies I would like very much. Look towards a company that produces super foods with a dream focused on world exports.

If I do not dream big, nobody will do it for me.

From something macro to something nano

 In this semester of university I have my firth practice of investigation. The teacher in charge guides me to looking for the information who works for our investigation. We are looking for how to dehydrate turmeric. Is important point that the turmeric is a different food of the ginger.

Scientifically are studies that demonstrate that the turmeric have many benefits for the human health and for that we want dehydrate because in that form can conserve more time.

To know how have a good turmeric dehydrate we need to focus in the nano qualities to will have the turmeric and the nano function to can have the microwave oven or another types of machine for dehydrate.

In the industry of food all the “super food” are measured for the same parameters of qualities who including color, texture, aroma, firmness, and others.  Under those parameters the food is called edible and will have a good reception of the people. That are the part of macro investigation.

In the nano investigation we need to focus on the proteins involved, what affects have if we add hot for an oven or for a forced air stove. We need to investigation how the particles behave and how they reorder for keep the functional characteristics that have the fruit.
